so i should throw out a little disclaimer here.   i support independent, trying, musicians with all of my heart.  To compose a melody and sing overtop boggles my mind an i respect anyone who can accomplish such a feat.  Ive seen good musicians and horrible musicians, both of which i have respect for! great respect.   i remember playing the saxophone when i was young in front of...

The new Raconteurs (not exactly sure how new, but it's great) website reminds of computer lab in third grade when I got to play Oregon trail on an old mac for an hour on fridays.  Those were good days.  This is how I crushed it hunting on Oregon trail. This was the weapon of choice. This is a screenshot of the Raconteurs site... good job designer.

WILL OLDHAMWelcome to the first episode of Soft Focus. The following is a screed from Ian concerning the show: SOFT FOCUS DEFILES GRAVES OF HISTORIC TV PROGRAMS As one strolls through the cemetery of bygone television shows, one genuflects dutifully before the headstones of the hypnotists, charlatans, and mind control experts who have shaped our world through their cathode ray. They’re all there...

VBS recently tagged along with Brooklyn's Birthday Boyz on an unprecedented tour into the hinterlands of China's underground rock scene. While Bjork and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs graced government-sanctioned summer stages, we followed the Boyz as they played shows and hung out with local Chinese bands in the shadier venues of Beijing and Shanghai and down the Yangtze to the bustling rock communities of...

Yes I am going to see Sigur Ros Wednesday evening at Copley Symphony Hall in San Diego and I am more than excited.  They are one of the most amazing live bands I have ever seen and am happy to see them one more time.  The show should look something like this, except I am hoping my seats are considerably closer, (I think they are).

The weekend in music:  all about Bonnaroo. Bonnaroo Festival, held on a beautiful 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee. For those of us who were not lucky enough to be there the next best thing was probably watching the live webcast on the AT&T Blueroom site (http://www.attblueroom.com).  Some of the bands featured were Death Cab for Cutie, Sigur Ros, The Raconteurs,...
